Anyone ever drill out the area in the hood molding that covers the drain slots in the hood? I am thinking maybe this would prevent water from sitting there.
Something I have been meaning to do since it went together. I hate opening the hood and the water out of the hood trim drips all over my fenders. No wonder the lips rotted out. Imagine that being salt water from our winters.
Good information My original Maverick hood was missing the molding so I never realized that the molding covered any drains. My new hood will now get the molding installed and I will now be looking out for this problem. Thanks :Handshake
I think the holes were more for removing the condensation from the unpainted underside of the hood lip rather than rain...(air vents)... ......
Well that explains the reason why the hood lip has holes. But were talking about the side effect they cause, like water acumulates There. Which contributes to rust. Hence the reason we drill holes in the trim. They also get cloged up with dirt. With the holes in the trim you can clean them with a wire. Just like you to the bottom of the doors.
