The oil pressure sending unit for the idiot light started leaking bad on my car as I left out of work this afternoon. As I was rolling through the parking lot, someone shouted I was leaving a trail of oil. Good thing, 'cuz I probably wouldn't have noticed until I got out on the highway and hit 75 mph with no oil in it...
Oh s#$%, sounds like I'm not the only one having bad luck. My motor went the other morning on the way to work.(#2 piston split in two and the rod took out the block and crank) Oh well tomarrow is another day and every day above ground is a good day
i wouldn't get too mad if my motor took a crap then i would get to build a roller motor and it would get done faster to fix the mav when i broke my third 8'' 3rd member i was smiling at the track because i was goint to finally put the 9'' in it
I'm going to make some people mad here! My Maverick's been doing great! knock on wood, that would be my headWhat are we going to do when Justin starts working on his transmission?
Darren, You mentioned charging your Optima, and the shop having a special charger. There was just a good article in Car Craft about Optimas being hard to charge with a regular charger if they drop too low ... that is where the special charger unit comes into play. They also showed in the article that you can use a standard charger if you hook the Optima to a regular battery and charge both of them.
Optima batteries are no problem being charged as long as you put it on a trickle charge(2 amp or less) overnight. I have brought back my Optimas several times from near death experiences that way. At Advance where I work, we do the same thing, although our charger can quick charge them in 30 minutes, usually. Jim
Here,I'm about to learn something! What's up with charging an Optima battery? My friend has one and had trouble with it. Maybe someone can start a new thread on this. Sorry for the
Well our 5000 dollar charger damn near blew up my Optima. Luckily I was watching the temp of it since I had a suspicion it might be bad. Sure enough the one cell was getting pretty hot. After almost 3 hours of this fancy charger doing its thing the Optima started to smoke and puke acid out of the side terminals at the case. Uh oh cancel the so called diagnostic/charge procedure. This thing even connects to my computer for warranty claims. Oh boy. Anyhow it left me with no battery and I cant stand having my car down. Didnt want another crappy Mopar batt. to spew acid all over my tray. Payed a visit to my home away from home Carquest and did something I havent done in years. Bought myself a new shiny battery. Gave me 5 year over the counter no pro rate warranty to cinch the deal. Carquest NGT extreme. Manager Ray (great guy to deal with) said less failure rate than NGT power sports. Extreme is a bit heavier and bigger but thats OK. http://www.carquest.com/batteries/products.html
