Your not bored...Just starting to re-think your original concept. I think the car looks darn good. I could tell you what I would do and what I would have done differently. But its your vision not mine. Ultimately you have to be happy with the end product...Perhaps its time to re-invent the car, come up with a new scheme. Just contemplating a change should get your Maverick mojo working...The T-5 swap sounds like a good place to start. Good luck man!!!

If you really want a critique...I would get rid of the grabber stripe continuation on the inside of the door panels...Too busy IMHO.

The wheels look dated. Change the wheels to Magnum 500's and do something with the console.

keeping the bumper for sure, but a bumper slide may be happening very soon. I think the console should be recovered in black carpet, and kickpanels chenged out to black too. Recovering it is cheap, gotta track down some kickpanels though or try to get the glue off mine. Wheels are staying for now. not enough money for those.

I think I can sand off the Grabber lettering, its only under one coat of clear, and polish it up again and get the vinyl lettering. Gonna think about that, there's no going back once I start.

Not many people notice the stripe on the inside of the door, good job. Im keeping that unless the car is totally repainted. should look better once kickpanels and console are done.

So the future update list is coming along like this
    change airbrush to Block letters
    Update or retro wheels
    rewire engine bay
Change out tweed covered kickpanels for factory black kickpanels (added that idea myself)
    finish painting headlight buckets
    T5 swap
    cover console with black carpet

Thanks for the compliments and critique, getting some new ideas and some things ive overlooked.

Ryan i was bored with My Grabber after doing everything i did to it way back in the day, Ive spent the past years undoing what I did. Buying all the Original 71 Interior and putting my original steering wheel back in along with original deluxe door panels, And original 71 Comfort weave bucket seats, As far as interior, my Flavor for B&M shifters and grant steering wheels is deffintly a thing of the past, but then again I love originalalty when it comes to classics.

    Ryan,

My Comet is going into it's third big phase in 18 years .... do cars get a "7 year itch?"

I like the new Magnums a lot.:thumbs2: Makes me wonder if they are available in a good offset for our cars. I would think they are focused at new Mustangs.

    Wrong or Bored ?

    Hello Ryan:
In my "own" humble opinion .. judging from the photos I've viewed of your car .. you've done a fine job . Only "you" can answer those questions .. Personally .. I would spend my time in polishing or "tweaking" the improvements you've already made to this car and spend your time in "driving" the car and enjoying the whole concept. Just my opinion.:) Cometized

Hope you find out why you are bored with it. I think its one of the nicest cars out there. I have the white and orange grabber 1973 1886 5.0 gt mustang motor B303 ford racing cam 600 carb headers the whole inside is orange seats and carpet 8 track tape deck c-4 2500 stall 2.5 pipes out the back turned down. Still has the air shock on it that came from the dealer.

I love my grabber and hope you can get back into yours. If you change any thing post more pics. If you do nothing its still one of the best looking cars around. I would love to have it.

You could also do what I am doing I found a comet GT 1973 and am not working on it. It gets you back into the cars again. I love these little cars not every one has one. Sure get the eyes at shows and riding down the road. Good luck with what ever you do. Sorry about running on about my car or cars but hoped it will help you get back in the mood.

GA Grabber73, I think I saw your car in the gallery somewhere right? Ever since I got one of the 1973 Maverick dealer brochures I wanted one like that. Don't know why I didn't go that way in the beginning, I think I already had th interiror painted before I saw it and didnt want to do it again but it was so long ago I'm not sure.

There is definitely alot of finishing and polishing up things I can do in the meantime. I think I can sand down through one layer of clear coat to remove the airbrushing. I wish there was a way to confirm it was only one coat on top of it because the shop that did the paint is long gone but I am pretty sure it was cleared, then airbrushed, then one coat ot clear over that. If I can sand through that last layer and remover the airbrush and then get the blocked letter decals I will be alot happier.

This is the one I was thinking of. Very nice. I like the bumper slide and 73 stripes with an early grabber hood, and magnum 500s. Who's is it and do they want to trade? :dancing:

actually, it's a Medium Bumper Maverick. I would rather keep it correct for the year of the car. Not to say I wouldn't love to have an early bumper Maverick again.

You have a very nice car. Moving the bumper in is a easy fix and uyou will be surprised at the difference it will make. I did my front bumper in about 3 hours and have had a lot of positive compliments about it. Also painting around the headlights and the front valance black will clean up the front end look. You can check my images and see what you think. There are before and after pictures there. Just my opinion, but that is what you asked for. I think shall changes once in a while will help keep the interest up because styles change and so does a person's tastes. Enjoy it. :tiphat:
