The dash is almost reinstalled in my '72 Maverick 302 AC 2-door. This connector is hanging down from behind the dash near the passenger side kick panel. Anyone know what its for? Its not for the door switch -- that's already connected. Is there a courtesy light in that area? If yes, I haven't found it yet and don't know where it would mount.
yea what is that for ive found them on my car and my parts car. i wonder was there a light for the package tray or glove box???
there is/ was a light in my glove box. I don't remember what the connector looks like but it's in that area
Give this a try. You might find it in this schematic. It's not complete, but may help! http://www.maverickcomet.com/Wiring/Maverick.asp
I haven't figured out what it is, but I did some checking. I have one dash harness with that connector on it, and it came from a 73 comet. Neither of my Grabber harnesses (71 and 73) have it. The brown wire with the yellow has goes to the bottom right (looking at the firewall) corner of the bulkhead connector into the engine bay. The red wire with yellow hash goes to the warning lamp fuse in the fusebox.
I would have normally said the door lite switch, but you said you already found that one. Otherwise, I would say it is the wiring for the seat belts.
Pretty sure the seat belt wiring is purple and has rectangular connectors. His is hanging down in the kick panel. (Then again, I'm not 100% certain )
Thanks, but I tried that before I posted. Couldn't find that pair of wires but colors have changed and it hard to be sure what they were originally. I'm thinking it may not have been connected to anything.
Of course, I don't have a glove box. Maybe the wire were there in anticipation of the lighted glove box.
I'll look again but I'm pretty sure the seat belt wires are already connected into the wiring harness.
I wonder if this was only on LDO cars or something. Because i just checked mine and theres no light. Theres not even a hole in the liner or anything.
I'm thinking they left some optional circuits off those diagrams. They don't have sport lamps on them either. Made it awful hard to figure out where to hook my switch up -- the wires were cut off behind the dash.
Where does the wire go? into the under dash harness? Later year cars, had the interior light group, which tied into the driverside door switch, and had plugs like that. It's not seat belt, that's what the purple wire is.
I know I have seen those wires before. I have a 1972 I will be parting out. When I do...I will look at it and see where it goes.
