I think from a bad hose (hopefully?). I gradually lost power steering, and now it's full manual. It doesn't really bother me, as I could use the workout - but wonder if it would be a pricey fix - or if I'll do any damage driving it as is-with manual steering?
You could just add more fluid to the resivoir and the power would come back. that said, the proper thing to do is fix the leak. Hoses are readily available at most all parts stores. Although it is tight working conditions, they are not hard to change. GL
These systems are prone to leaking, here's a quick manual conversion using your power steering parts. http://www.egge.com/site/?d=48&dt=1&SubCategoryId=119
if you keep driveing you may damage the power stearing pump. it needs the fluid to to stay lubricated.
Your reservior may be leaking and fluid running down the hoses giving the appearance the hoses are leaking. Feel around the bottom of the reservior to see if any fluid is there - If so, you may need to replace/overhaul unit. I had mine overhauled for around $70.00 bucks including shipping. I had it overhauled cuz I new when I got it back it wud fit w/o any issues. No more leaks. If u want to have urs done PM me and I'll hook u up.
I found my return hose was loose, after I rebuilt the entire system with new parts, everything. I was pretty upset when it leaked. (it was loose for over a year)
