Didn't build it...bought it for having fun around town with my son and occasional nights at the strip. I would have BUILT it differently, probably w/ a T5 manual and 3:55's. But we don't have the tools/space/budget/time to build a car. Tried that before, ended up being a huge mistake, had to cut our losses and start over, thus here we are with a pretty hot street car (or mild strip car) and some white goo. Will be taking it to the shop on Saturday (hopefully)...
This would be my advice also. It shows up leaks in newer cars as well. I`m not sure about your engine, but if you have aluminum heads I would definitely get this done. Left for a length of time, coolant will corrode internal engine parts. As you said you have coolant loss with no visible leak. It goes somewhere, believe me! Good luck with it! I know how frustrating stuff like this is.
OK, short runs - never getting the engine hot enough for long periods of time make condensation a real possibility. Every time the engine gets warm it collects moisture. If it isn't allowed to stay HOT long enough to purge the water it builds up in the foam of oil and water mix that you see on the dipstick and in the valve covers. If you can't run it for longer periods then put a good block heater on it to get rid of the condensation. The block heater will also make it start out warmer so it will get to operating temp faster and you will have less condensation.
Plan for tonight... Try to get ANY-ALL air out of the cooling system. Take the car out tonight for as long as I can stand it. With the high stall converter and tall gears, plus the dumps just in front of the rear axle and fully functional 2-60 air conditioning, it gets just a little hot and loud after a while. If that gets rid of condensation, then we're happy again If not, I'm buying one of the chemical combustion leak test kits and checking it myself next week.
No, I'm not kidding. he needs to run it long enough to as Paul said, purge the moisture out of the crankcase or at least long enough to eliminate that possibility.
Took the car out for an hour - would have been great except I backed into a mailbox and put a severe dent in a perfect body car that's been in my possession for less than 4 weeks
