http://www.themaverickpage.com/My_Mavericks/First_Car/First_Photos/first_photos.html This great Maverick site shows a 1970 Maverick in the factory color of "Black Jade". However, it appears like a dark green, and also, the 1970 Grabber colors, introduced later, did not include black. It would be interesting to see if any were special ordered, like the supposed "Purple" ones. There was a 1970 non-Grabber color of "Raven Black" also. Maybe "Raven Black" was a true black color on a non-Grabber 70 Mav. Black appears to be listed in the 1971 Maverick options: http://www.fordmaverick.com/yrtoyr.htm So good question...I'm not seeing any information yet on actual factory black Grabbers, just the non-Grabber Maverick in 70 and 71.
http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=51644 Looks like from this similar thread that Black Grabbers did exist, and were a "special order" for paint color. The one in the post above this is amazing looking by the way!
I saw black '74 Grabber with white stripes in June of '74. The sun was shining and it was about 4:00pm. It was clearly black and not dark blue. I thought it looked very sharp. I never saw this car again and I never seen another one in black again. I ordered my car in May '74 and I was still waiting for it to come in so I was excited when I saw this Black one! My car did not come in until the 3ed week of July. It was one of the last '74's
When I ordered my car I remember going through the color combo option with the dealer. Although I knew what I wanted, I do not remember anything about black with white stripes or any other stripe color but there could have been. Black with red stripes would have been nice.
I didnt read the ad lol It looks blue on both my computers just the dark blue, i have a grabber in my backyard right now that is identical to that but it really is blue and has the silver stripes too
