I'm going to take the kickdown cable off. The little arm that is held on by a nut moves when i turn in the cw direction to loosen the nut and was afraid to damage something internally. Is there a certain way to remove this?
The nut turns ccw to remove it. You can hold the lever while turning the nut or just let it hit the internal stop.
I think we jammed a wrench between the trans (or frame) and lever to keep the lever from moving while we turned the nut.
I cracked it loose easy enough, didn't seem overbearing to where anything could have been damaged. How did Earl know he had a problem? When it didn't operate properly? Or did it break and spin free?
