Weight, flow, heat dissipation and again weight. Just lift the factory cast iron 4 barrel intake. Its a tank. Also doesnt flow much for upper RPM use. They work fine on a mild build though. Once again the weight is killer though. Did I mention they're heavy??LOL

Edelbrock has some nice mild packages for street use.

It has alot of downflaws but i still want one. I like being almost all original performance wise.

The aluminum ones are so cheap that its not even worth it to use iron, and most of the iron ones are junk also.

you can easily score a edelbrock RPM for under $100 on ebay. Or if your going with a mild build the performers are like $20-40 on craigslist.

They're basically a copy of the factory ford 4bbl aluminum intake that you can find on the early 80's mustangs.

yes they make power from idle-5,000 RPM. I used on on my last build which was really mild.

Also try to see if you can find a WEIAND action plus or a Stealth.

Performer 289 intakes are good for mild builds (I have extra in garage)
and I liked the Weiand Xcellerator I used to have

well i don't really see the Weiands for sale that often, but new they're a bit cheaper than the edelbrocks.

I got my Stealth and i'm very happy with how it looks, haven't run it yet thought.

:naughty: Go with an RPM, or a Ford A321, C9OX, or the older Edelbrock F4B. These all work great from idle to 6500 and will allow future engine upgrades. The Weiand Stealth is also a great intake. Or the old twisted carb Edelbrock Torker 289

Performers work well. Just about any dual plane design will work well on a mild build.
