i came up with an idea for some custom motor supports yesterday, i took the busted up old motor supports off my moms 66' stang and took all the thick rubber from in between the top bracket and and lower bracket, the idea is to weld (using a MIG welder) the top and bottom pieces togeather into one piece kinda like a solid motor support, how well would this work?
The previous owner of my maverick installed solid motor mounts and it rattled like crazy when the car is at idle, when it moving its not so bad. I have a video somewhere, let me see if i can find it. Im going with stock rubber ones next time
look for the prothane motor mount if you are breaking motor mounts if you cant find thoes prothane ones then gust weld it up
I ran solid motor mounts in old foxbody mustang and it wasn't so bad. Another option would be to buy new motor mounts and use a short piece of chain welded/bolted between the block and the frame. This will allow some give but not enough to break the motor mount
He's not breaking them. He just doesn't have the correct maverick Frame mounts. He's mentioned that in his older threads.
In that case, I've seen the 6 cylinder stands drilled and made to work with no problems at all. Old guy has done this before
