For the V-8 3/4 speed guys and gals.Anyone ever do away with the factory z-bar setup, and switch to a cable? What did you use? Since z-bars are few and far between,I am considering going this route. Thanks in advance:tiphat:

I used the Mustang Steve kit. Great kit, you just need access to a welder and VERY basic welding skills to modify the pedal. I only bought the Pedal adapter and adjustable cable. I made my own firewall brace out of angle iron. Not as cool as the billet one, but didn't cost $70 either. Very easy conversion, could pretty easily be done in a few hours.

You can just get an early Mustang z-bar, all the Mustang supply houses sell them.

I have one from a 6 cyl.66 mustang. After all the cutting and welding I'd have to do,I'd rather just put that effort into an updated system.

That's why you shoulda used one from a 66 V8 Mustang - no cutting or welding. Just use 6 cylinder Maverick pivots. Been running mine for the last 36 years.
