Going to use fatmat extreme for the floor after applying POR-15. Gonna do the inside of the doors and the fender wells, the trunk and front and rear firewall as well. Once I get a nicer carpet I'll add some padding for better sound insulation on the floors.

For the sound going with a basic Pioneer head unit with Sub/Amp output (already have it, cost me $150). Going with two Alpine 5.25" speakers in the front, one Bazooka enclosed 8" subwoofer in the trunk ($120), and an Alpine 4 channel amplifier ($150). I'm gonna bridge 2 of the channels to power the sub and use the remaining 2 channels to power the 2 front speakers.

I think that's gonna be a sweet system.

I was worried that only 2 speakers in the front may not be enough but with the sub in the back it might be just right.

the question is what is going to be your exhaust system? are you keeping the one you have now?

i think you have turbos with turndowns?

that blown 331 is going to be loud:D

I was thinking about that. I love the ones I have now. My main problem with the turndowns is the smell. If you are at a light and windows down it really gets in the car easily, not a big deal but it's noticable. I am gonna leave it as is because it's really not that bad at all. If with all the padding and louder sound system it's a problem then I'll convert to something milder.

I noticed ur exhaust terminating under the car. I am sure u get a lot of exhaust fumes w/ that kind of setup. On humid days that when no air stirring even more car/mon fumes.
No Offense but; what is the purpose of exhaust ending under the car?
BTW - U CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE SPEAKERS IF 2 AIN'T ENOUGH. I think w/ ur bridged amp u may have enough. I have 5 1/4 in kick panels w/ the crossover and seperating tweeters. I don't have the tweeters seperated yet cuz I been to busy w/ mechanical issues. When I get all those done I will figure out where I can mount them.

and if you have the later 76 tank its harder to run dual exhaust, so most of us just leave them at the axle.....

I didn't get too bad of fumes

I also did the dumps because it was harder getting them to exit out the sides or the rear. The guy that did my exhaust said it's possible but a PITA.

OK it's going well, got the Fatmat Rattle Trap which cost me $159 for 100sqft., that should be plenty of material to work with.
Rust Bullet, 1qt for $50 which I'm gonna use on most of the floor it looks like.
    Bazooka tube 8" for $115.
Alpine 4 ch. amp for $130.

So far so good. I saved a lot of money by shopping around. I need to get some wiring for the amp, is it worth spending $30 for a kit or should I just piece it together myself?

I wud get the kit. Just a lot more convient and hassle free. I have installed 3 systems and used a kit each time. It's worth the money to me - I wud'nt do it any other way.

can I use any RCA cable to run through the car or should I get the ones advertised for cars?

I have the sub, amp and the amp wiring kit and the Rust Bullet pain all shipped out already. So I can definitely get started. Just waiting for fatmat sound deadener.

I wud get the ones for the cars. They probably are less prone to pickin up ign. noise. You only want to do this once; after u get all installed u don't want to pull the RCA cuz ur getting ign noise. I wud not say the reg cables won't work, they will. A lot of the ones for mobile use are twisted a certain way and the insulation is designed for a car environment.
Do it once - Do it right - enjoy the music.>>>>>JMO:idea:

I used the RCA cables from the Wal-Mart auto section. They work pretty well. I have no noticeable noise. Im running 2 amps with 3 pair of cables coming back to the front of the car. I ran them down along the side of the tranny tunnel separate from the amp power cables.
