It's all in what YOU want! Just by your posting, asking if you did the right thing, and you saying that you've always wanted one, sounds like in your heart, you know the answere, and you want it.I say go get it!Your mav definetly is a good looking car,but you can always get another one.Mavs are a dime a dozen compared to these. The marlin doesn't come along very often, and is one VERY UNIQUE car.Get the marlin, and find another mav and build it!Just my I wish you luck in whichever route you choose.
Rambler just would'nt look good across the chest of your avatar They are a cool car for sure sorta reminds me of the early Chargers but I wouldnt give up your Grabber for it you know you would be regretful
I certainly don't see any Marlins at any car shows around here - but, then again, I don't see any Mavericks either. I guess I call it a "toss up"
Tha man has a great point. You could trade and then pick up another Mav for 4-500 dollars and have both. You would still ave one to cruise and one to tinker with. They just did a flashback on Horse Power TV with the Marlin a few weeks ago, they are cool in their own respects but still not for me. As a side note, my last car was a 68 Pontiac GTO and now I have a Maverick. Some would say a screwed up getting rid of it and owning a Mav but I'm very happy with the decision, that right there is the most important part.
I'm not a fan of the look of a MArlin but you must have a good reason if you always wanted one. Personally I wouldnt even consider giving up my Mav for anything less than a replica big block AC Cobra. So I guess I'll have my Mav indefinitely.
The marlin is not a car that I would want but it is your decision and as long as it makes you happy that is all that matters. I have would a bunch of mavericks but only 1 marlin and it was junk. I guess it is just whatever you want
Well, maybe it's, uhh, "unique", but... Any historical significance it's awkward looking, poorly executed fastback design has, is surely trampled by the '65 fastback Mustang, a tremendously better looking car. Judging by the production figures, I'd say a whole hell of a lot of people felt exactly the same about it in the 60's as well. Some things are "rare" and "unique" for a reason.. JMO
You definately did the right thing in passing, In Texas Marlin's are easy to come by and $ 5500 is to high for his car based on the pictures I saw in the post 3 Years ago we finished restoring one of my Dad's Marlin's and it was identical in colors and it was the 327 p/s p/b A/C rust free Texas car and we had a hard time getting $ 3500 and was glad to get it. I haven't seen a nice V-8 Grabber for sale lately for $5500. Not that I hate Marlin's I still have 1 6 cyl 65 left.
Thanks for all the input guys. I have always wanted a Marlin, but the Maverick Grabber was on that list of gotta haves too. Love the Maverick. Like the Marlin, but don't have the $$$ to finish the marlin if I got it for a long time. This is a rust free car from our desert area. Wow,Dennis, never thought you would consider anything but a Ford... Don, Marlin & Drags have never really gone together...... I checked, no speed parts for the AMC 327, which is a Packard engine. A Marlin on the T-shirt just wouldn't be the same... The Maverick is a keeper as are the guys here. Thanks again for all the input.
That would be a seriously foul place for me to be. I, unlike these guys, like the way Marlins look. I really like a two tone and probably would have swapped instantly had my wife agreed to it.
Bob Glad to see you finally got back ON your old timers drugs now go out on the patio and have a BEER on two
