Has anyone replaced just the bolts in there leaf spring shackles? I found 1/2" grade 8 bolts that seem to fit perfectly. I plan to grind a small collar on them so I don't over tighten the bushings. Does anyone see a problem with this?

You can buy new ones at Rock Auto for $15.00 a side. A lot safer choice for $30.00

If you are talking abput aftermarket shackes (the long ones)....I would suggest getting rid of those.

Factory shackles didn't have any bolts. They were an assembly.

The factory ones are way stronger.

I meant removing the pressed in factory bolt and replacing it with a grade 8 bolt. Rock Auto shackles ar $20 each plus shipping.

My factory ones didn't allow for my immense tires so I was forced to use shackles. In a perfect world i would have high arched springs and factory style shackles.
