They come with the valves, im only guessing they are not hard to install http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...ck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3a564e6c3d#shId
valves are easy to install.i'd ask the seller a few questions like has the heads been magnafluxed, the cond.of the valves and seats.if all that checks out,i don't think you could go wrong,money-wise and it'd be an easy way to gain a few ponies.
thats what i was thinking. came real close to hitting that BIN button.don't need them, but for the money and cheap shipping, one couldn't go wrong.
Thats a nice pair of vintage heads. OK for yourself but the late model heads will flow better. I would have liked to have them for my first Mav 20 plus years ago if they are hi-po heads. Those 289 heads ( dont see the push rod guides hi po heads had) take a lot of work in the ports especially the exhaust to get some flow along with being machined for larger valves etc. You end up spending quite a bit of money on old iron heads. Not so sure they are hi po heads. If I remember right 289 hi po heads had small hole built in valve guides. They do have screw in studs but they can be done at any machine shop. Those pics sure bring back memories though. Many, many hours I spent on early iron heads learning how to work the ports and cut for the larger valves etc. Good times with some pretty smart now old men.
Look for some late model, E7 heads. Those heads on ebay are many years old and probably need more work than valves, like guides and seats, and the deck doesn't look right to me...
I make no claim to being an expert but ... If they are not HiPo heads, I don't think there worth any more and have no more poential than whatever run of the mill SBF heads you may already have. Unless you have nothing. Experts ... how about this ... is this a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REBU...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3efb932eb1
Experts ... how about this ... is this a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REBU...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3efb932eb1[/QUOTE] $259.00 seems like a good deal to me, I have not had a valve job done in years. I bet you can't buy a set of heads, and have a decent rebuild on them for much less. They look good in the pic. Depends on how much for shipping too. I run E7's on my car.
The only diffference in the genuine 289 hi-po heads vs the std 289 heads were the cast-in spring pockets. That was THE ONLY difference aside from the screw in studs. Otherwise the Hi-pos were the same castings as the C6OE 289 heads. Same ports, same valves, same chambers.
