what do they exactly do and how much should I expect to pay? brand new leafs gonna cost me $260 to my door. The tech writeup is pretty sweet using the BFV springs, so that's my other option.
$260? Is that from General Spring in KC? Is the shipping high? When I got a quote for re-arching in Tulsa, it was MUCH MORE expensive than just buying new springs. But, I've heard people say otherwise in other parts of the country.
I think the springs may have gone up in value. Here's the link to General. http://www.generalspringkc.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=105&pg=1
Yea GP in KC with shipping (40) will come out to that total. I gotta call around some shops here but Bryant checked for me and it was a little over 300
is it de-arching or re-arching? anywho, rebuilding for now . . . so another quote I got was for $350 and somewhere in the 30-50 per leaf added which the shop guy recommended.
Mine were de-arched, since I was lowering the car.. I guess it all depends on what they are doing, if they disassemble the leaves, sand blast them and paint them, and re-assemble. then you'd pay more. Mine were just adjusted and re-assembled.
You know - after going to the link, I remember that we did a group buy on these springs. Some days I can't remember ANYTHING. That's why I got them cheaper. I think they were $109 back then too. I bought the bushing and shackle kit from JCWhitney for one car. On the other car I cleaned and painted the factory shackles and replaced JUST the bushings. I got those bushings from Autokrafters. The front bushings come in the new springs. I remember seeing some cheap prices like this before I bought the General springs. So I made some phone calls around Tulsa. To re-arch it was about $400 if I remember right. That didn't include adding a leaf. :16suspect I figured for that kind of money, I would go ahead and buy new springs. Depends on which was you want to go. Dave may have de-arched because the new springs lifted the car too much. Seems like Dennis had to de-arch some new springs years ago too.
We posted at the same time... The price in Tulsa did not include any blasting or painting. I wonder if they really wanted the job.

Might want to read this page about re-arching. What does your springs look like now? Like my daddy always told me...you can't make chicken salad out if chicken s**t. http://www.eatonsprings.com/rearching.htm
Good info, just don't get a quote from Eaton...big bucks. I know they are good but....I asked for a quote a few years ago, since I could drive there and pick them up, but I think they were around $600...
I got some springs frm General this September they were $250.00 shipped. The 4 leaf's ride gud as long as ur on smooth surface on washboard surfaces it's a different story. If u don't mind the ride ur ok; but for me it's a little stiff. Personally, I don't believe in arching for a few more dollars I'd rather go with new - IMO they have a longer service life. I think these springs are more geared to the folks who are racing. If they had a 3 leaf version that's what I wud have bought. I believe in a lot of cases "not all" it wud eliminate the need for traction bars.
