So Heckman Glass Masters that did my windshield install in the front and rear didn't do as good of a job as I hoped. I went to wash my car today and it's leaking everywhere, it's actually impressive. Before I had a leak on the passenger side and my cowels looks good on inspection so I suspected the glass which is why I had it replaced. Sure enough, no more leak in the passenger area but boy, leaking pretty crazy over my head and on the bottom on the driver's side.

Jim is the guy that came out and installed it. I'm gonna have him come back out tomorrow and see what he can do but looks like it's gonna need to be redone.

I know Jay is gonna tell me I told you so . . . bring it on Jay, I can take it!

On the bright side I finally took a shower!

Hopefully he didn't use urethane, it's not a good match with rubber gaskets...

Ive installed them in mine and customers cars for the last twenty years and counting, piece of cake and never had a leak ever. If you know what your doing and use the correct materials then they won't leak. Lets see for built these over thirty years ago and got it right back then. These glass company's always want to use urethane and it does not work.

Thank God for warranties. I'm hoping they can fix it. So what's he gonna do when he comes out tomorrow, he better not try to silicone the outside. can he take out the gasket and try reinstalling it or does he have to use a new one?

Would you considering writing a tech article about the proper installation method and materials to use?:thumbs2:

The proper sealer is a 3M 0511135-08578 STRIP-CALK just as Ford used. Yes I will do a tech article I am currently painting my 72 Comet Gt as we speak. Painting it completely disassembled and should be done before end of the month and when I put my NOS Ford Carlite tinted windshield and back glass in I will take photo's and write the tech on it. :)

The Gold one from S.C.? If it is, you're moving QUICK on it!:thumbs2:

I too am interested in the article since both the front and rear window seals in the green GT are trashed.

? I just posted that, since it's been posted before.
Ford used some pretty gooey stuff, what ever it was, it's not strip-calk, more like butyl. My green 73 had it's original windshield when I restored it, there was nothing in the gasket where the glass was, but that sticky stuff was all around the pinch welds.

Cool! I can't wait to see it when it's finished. :thumbs2:

You doing a build log on it? I'm hoping to see how the windows are removed / installed so I don't break mine.
