i know around 75 they started adding the letters to the hood. But i wanna know was it an option? Or did it come with the ldo pakage? This is just one of those middle of the night "hmmm" questions that i get.
Hmmm thats weird mine never had the hood lettering? And ive seen other 75/77 without them, was there an option to not have them put on? I think every 75/77 4 door ive seen has them.
If your Maverick is a very early '75 maybe it snuck through the assembly line with a '74 hood. It's very easy to swap hoods from one year to the next, so a '75 through '77 maverick without the FORD letters on the hood may just have an older hood on it.
The date code is 07/75 and its the 96,984th in the vin. I thought about a hood swap but i think that would be unlikely, the color and pin stripe is spot on with the rest of the car. Also in the hood hidge area it had no scratches and had an "imprint" when i remoued it. But who knows, im the forth owner i know the previous two. I only dont know the original owner all i know is that his name is Leroy Pickett and he lived in Phoenix when he purchased it.
So that makes it worth more? mine does have it on the trunk. I always liked the options on this car. Power disk brakes, V8, AC/heat, dual sport mirrors . Only thing missing were bucket seats and power steering, but i has them now.
Very true. Somebody stuck a late hood with the FORD lettering on my '71 at some point. I would have done away with that, but I actually like it...
I completely forgot that the later Maverick hoods had Ford with the single lettering written across the front of it. Funny how you forget these things. My '77 4-door was like that.
