From the transmission area? What is that about?
It drips from the middle area of the transmission after I have been driving for a while. My radiator constantly needs topping off too.

Maybe it's leaking from the rear of the motor and running down the bellhousing and then dropping off the transmission?

I don't think it would go that far back before hitting the ground, but who knows.

Neato I can fix that myself.
And it would leak outside the cab? Everytime I've experienced a heater core die it leaked onto my floorboard on the passenger side.

The heater core I replaced in my suburban last month would run into the floorboard, but also out onto the ground. Im not sure if the hose wasn't on snuggly enough or not but it started leaking outside the same time it started leaking inside.

You may not need a heater core, maybe just a leaky hose

If you were driving around, i would only guess the radiator fluid would make it back to the trans (since i had a little leak and it made it back that far)

If it's an AC heater box, the lines connect on the outside of the firewall. Mine would leak in the floorboard, and it also followed the tube through the firewall, leaking outside and dripping down by the tranny. Not so bad getting the heater box out, put putting it back in is fun! Easier if you have a helper to help get the studs through the firewall, then put a nut on them to keep it from slipping out of place.

Expansion/freeze plug? That is my guess...

I'm thinking more behind the block, inside the bell housing.

Yikes, thats the end of my Comet if thats the case. I have no lift and no way to do anything remotely close to repair freeze plugs behind the bellhousing. I have a ratchet set(most of it) and ramps and a scissor jack...some screwdrivers...I don't even have a flat area to work.

I drove it a hour and a half after I noticed the dripping with no problems, then drove an hour and a half back home. Been driving it ever since too. I hope this isn't anything that hairy! Hoses are fine, I can do that.

If it is back there you would need to take the trans out. And if it is back there I would be looking at all the others.

There is absolutely no way possible for me to even approach removing my transmission. Lack of money, tools, work area and knowledge prevent such a thing. That sort of problem would be the end of my Comet as far as driving it goes.
I'll have to drive it up on the ramps and trace the leak, hopefully it's nothing close to that major and I can repair it easily. I'll check the bellhousing though, thanks for the suggestions guys.

I see it taking about $25 tops, basic hand tools and the car up and supported. Then alot of pics and pm's lol. The worst part is how heavy the trans is on your back.
