When I first got the Comet the ALT light stayed on all the time. I had a guy check it and the alternator was bad so I took the bulb out and replaced the alternator never replacing the bulb. Years later I now have a GM 10SI 3 wire and for a lark I asked you people which wire on the harness was the ALT light and hooked it up to the one on the new alternator.
Well today I found a pair of dash lights and decided to replace that ALT bulb and lo and behold...it works!

I turn on my car and it comes on and goes right off. I know this seems like a small thing, but it means that my cars dash is now fully functional and that is a wonderful thing to me. All my gauges and lights are now functional and working as they should. My tach is functioning and the floor shifter is good to go. The bucket seats are comfortable and it runs cool and strong. All of those things I learned how to do and install by reading this forum and asking you for help.

Without this site and the good folks who post here and answer my tedious questions and posts, even though they have already been answered a thousand times before, my car would be a yard ornament and not drivable. I know that as a fact. This site and this site alone, above all others, has kept my car roadworthy and running as it should. I know that there is nothing I can do or say to thank you fine folks for the help and encouragement you have given and shown for me and my sweet ride.
Thank you all and hail forum well read!

This site makes me WISH I had found a Maverick before I found my Pinto. Both were in my family when I grew up, but the Pinto blood was always stronger, since I personally owned three (my Dad had the Mav). Still, you folks out here ROCK. Lots of great banter, frequent posts, comraderie, and support/appreciation for one another. I went to a Mini-meet in Texas recently, and the Mav owners were WAY cool, very friendly, solid guys. This is why I am a paying supporter of this site - maybe one day I'll wake up and "do the right thing".

By comparison, the Pinto site is dead. When I post my project progress most of the time, I hear the crickets chirp. There are LOTS of members there, but nobody but a handful of folks post. In over a year of participation, it's never been as great as this. If any of you Pinto site guys see this and don't like it, sorry, it's a fact.

Did I mention you folks out here ROCK? :thumbs2:

    This site sucks.

I still have a fat slow maverick, after 5 years of paying for premium membership.

I should be running in the 10s by now...

Great bunch of guys and very little BS on this forum. Even with 20 years in the trade and most of my teenage years spent with Fords and racing I still find tons of good info on here.
