Its been a year since we towed the Sprint home. Thought it might be done by now but still lots to do. Done: Rust repair: cowl, floors (minor), rear quarters, outer wheel wells, lower passenger door, radiator support, apron under battery, hood frame. Mechanical: brakes all around, Broader Performance Stage 2 500 HP Street/Strip C4 and converter on order, '88 Mustang HO obtained and rebuilt, Mustang fuel tank installed, broken AC case replaced and assembled with new heater core but not under the dash yet, new trans cooler lines, Champion radiator, Doug Thorley shorties, new 50 oz balancer and flex plate. Interior: Picked up bucket seats and made the mounts. Cosmetic: Bumpers rechromed, boomerangs rechromed, body stripped, sanded, and first coat of epoxy primer applied (today), hood primed, new windshield obtained, weatherstipping kit on order, picked up some used American Racing wheels.. Still to do: Rust repair: none Mechanical: Probably need to rebuild front suspension and power steering, AC repair, traction bars of some kind, lowering blocks, custom dual exhaust, tires, reinstall EVERYTHING. Interior: head liner, seats reupholstered, new carpet, paint dash, repair cracks in steering wheel, paint steering column, reassemble EVERYTHING, figure out some way to get new/refurbished white sun visors. Cosmetic: finish sanding (trunk lid, doors inside and out), finish paint, polish used wheels, reinstall everthing. That's all I can think of right now for "Phase 1". Maybe I'll finish it NEXT year. I keep telling myself, "I wanted a project". For Phase 2, (afer I drive it for a while) I'm thinking limited slip, 3.XX rear for openers and disk brakes if the drums are inadequate (I know, I know, they're inadequate).
A friend gave them to me. They're OLD! Aluminum. Like I said, he had them lying in a field for a few years. I painted them with the Eastwood Ford Dark Blue engine paint and sanded of the high points.
Boy, you have made a tremendous amount of progress on that car. Looks to be rust free, too. Wow, it will look great when you have it painted back to it's glory. Congrats on the work. Jim
Thanks Thanks Jim, Ray, Dave, Yes, to paraphrase Dave Ramsey, "I'M RUST FREE!!!":bananaman (if you don't count surface rust where it doesn't show.) Jim
Mavman72, thanks. I like those encouraging words!! Mavaholic, thanks. The quarter skins look pretty good under primer. :Handshake
