Not to take away from the other distributor thread but i had thought about this yesterday.

I have a roller motor block from an 80s mustang with a hydrolic cam and an 85 mustang distributor.

I have the old/new distributor from my 77 granada motor sitting around.

SINCE the cam is not a roller cam and NOT an h.o. motor:mad: can i put the granada distributor in and put the mustang one on the shelf? (its a pos):16suspect

I know that for the 80s... the gear on the distributor was a different type of metal.

    thanks guys:Handshake

it sounds like you have the wrong distributor in right now (85 mustang gt 5 speed). you may be damageing your cam if its a flat tappet cam. you can and should put the other distributor in if i read your post right.

Ditto, swap in the Granada distributor.
