I have early bronco rear that i took the diff out of the tag was missing so i cant tell whats in it but the numbers on the ring gear are c2aw 4210 h 8-117. I also have another housing it looks to be about the same width as the bronco housing but its small bearing and the tubes are tapered. If anyone can tell me what this is it would be greatly appriciated
those numbers dont help with figureing out what you have. if you dont have a tag you have to count the amount of teeth on the ring gear and on the pinion. divide the pinion number into the ring gear number and thats your ratio. if you want to know if its a posi then figure out what the ring gear bolt head size is. if its 3/4 it should be an open diff. if its 5/8s then it should be a posi. thats only if its stock stuff that hasnt been been changed with aftermarket bolts and posi. post some pics for more info. that housing with the tubes tapering sounds like either a 8" housing or a 65 66 mustang 9 inch housing. pics would help here also.
the hole on the leaf spring pad looks to be around 1" diameter. ive only seen those used on 65 66 mustang. i need to see the mounting studs for the thirdmember on the houseing to verfiy if its 9" or 8". i need to see the carrier/ ring gear section of the diff to see what its. and you need to count teeth to figure out the ratio.
I counted them it was 4.11s the diff had 3/4 bolts, i measured the housing where the thirdmember goes, it measured 9 inches. The mustang rear should fit right? If not i got it for free any way
it should fit nicely. you may have to do something about the holes in the spring pads. they need to be a slip fit over the studs in the leaf springs. ive seen machined alum spacers that work. not sure where to get them. you will need the right axles for the mustang housing. you need to figure out what spline the carrier is before you get axles.
i have the axles they're 28 spline and so is the bronco center section just need to get bearings and seals and thanks for the help
