i'm getting close to paying off my debt lol...once i do that my dad is gonna loan me money to get a yellow tranny from paul so i'm wondering if the tranny needs to be out to convert from the column shift to the floor or can i do it later?

i'm kinda hoping the tranny has to be out then maybe my dad will loan me the money for the linkage and shifter too :D

Sorry Matt but you can do it with it in the car, you going to put a fancy BM shifter in it :thumbs2:, checkout the BM Starshifter

B&M makes an economy one that workes very well too.B&M "Z gate" floor shifter.
    Reasonable price and works well.

    Very true.

Matt you need to find yourself another parts car( maybe one with auto on floor) You can find other cars besides Mavs and Comets that you could get a floor shifter out of just a little harder to adapt without the tranny hump. Just about any Ford with a c4 will work.

Heck you could just duct tape a screwdriver on the shifter arm :rofl2:

I want an SCS Cheetah shifter, talk about spendy

Using a Comet to fix up a Maverick is weird.

I swapped over to floor shift in about 2 hours in my driveway with the car up on ramps. I will be removing all the rods and linkage from the column soon and getting those headers installed.

I have a Starshifter, neat thing. It fit right in there with no problems.
