Painting My Car this weekend

    First I want to give A BIG Thanks to everyone here!!! who answered many questions and helped me out with issues about comets and mavericks with my project.

    Its about that time to paint my car this weekend. At this point it doesnt look like much and even I cant believe the amount of time it took to get it to where it is. I hate projects at this point because it doesnt even reflect all the hard work a person invests into their car. Months and months of working on it everyday after work and 100% of every single weekend and this is all I have to show at this point. At least I have photos of the process.

    The Green on the main body is not paint its tinted primer, so that chips and nicks wont show as badly over time.

    Looks like you have come a long way!!! The hard part is over."ready for paint" is being on the hump...Once its painted its all down hill.Looks good :thumbs2:

    Is that one of the quarter panel skins sold by Autokrafters?

    Did you butt the new panel up against the old metal and tack it there or did you overlap it? Did you finally weld the entire quarter panel seam or are the tack welds all that still hold it on? :tiphat:

    Quarter panels were from American muscle parts listed on this site under vendors. Seams were fully welded and ground smooth and body worked on both sides. Panels were also metal treated and epoxied on the inside prior to welding on.

    As for the chrome its not being painted. Everything on the car is being assembled back to 100% factory original date coded parts, every clamp hose and bolt. Keep in mind that a 71 is the hardest comet to build with date coding because its the first year it came out, you cant justify newer parts where a 72 may have still used many 71 parts.

    Amazing. I was just looking at your engine compartment. Nice work. More than nice... And where did you even find those AC hoses with the proper braided line? I had to get mine made custom because nobody carries them, and they had to do them in plain rubber.
