Should be a fill plug on the side of the third member (at least there is on 8 inches). If it's there, just fill it until it runs back out.
The additive is friction modifier for the posi clutches. You'll know if you forgot to put it in the first corner you take.
thanks guys no filler plug on the side of third member so i have to put it in the vent tube on the housing will post a pic later
the early ones (pre 67) did not come drilled as the fill hole was in the back of the housing but the flat spot is there just not drilled 8 and 9 inch stuff is really getting harder to find I know i make 9 inch housings for maverick
heres some pics of my rearend and there is a place to put a fill plug but cant i just use the vent hole to fill it. i have already had it out and it shouldnt be a problem to fill there only when it is in the car i will have to use a tube to get it in the housing. really hate to tear it back apart.
why you can but you will need to get the correct amount put in it . take the bottle and find a way to warm the oil so it is easier to put in or you will be there for a hour
there is a drain plug in the bottom of the housing i could fill it there and then if i need to add later on i can use the vent on top of the housing.but i need to know exactly how much i should put in to fill it to the right level 2 and a 1/4 quarts?
