First of all I'd like to say hello to everybody. I've owned my 74 four door 302 for ten years now and am astounded at the size of the community online.

My question is, how many prongs is the turn signal flasher? I'm looking for an electronic replacement but haven't gone digging behind my dash yet. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Yep! What he said. Also there are 2 under the dash. One is for the turn signals. The other is for your 4 way flashers...

Excellent. I thank everybody for their replies. I'm trying to hook up some Luxeon 5w 1157 replacements and I'm one step closer now.

Bi-metal flasher will not work with LED lights...the flasher will not warm up to make/break the contacts inside the flasher

Precisely. I'm on the right track if I'm replacing it with a two prong electronic flasher unit, right?

Just be sure to connect + to hot and - to load or you will blow the electronics. I used Tridon ep37 flasher because of the wiring difference and location on my Falcon. I here you can buy a cheaper electric flasher made for big rigs that have a motor inside instead of electronic operating the contacts. I have no experience on the $5 flashers. Good luck and let us know how it comes out

    Mr. Mercruizer,
I am enlisting yur knowledge on signal flashers. I am a new 73 Comet owner 2mos. and need some assistance. Upon reading this thread you seem knowledable on flashers. I recently discovered that my hazard flasher & cigar lighter don't work. I discovered the flasher and lighter on same circuit. The flasher is missing from a wire hanging frm the left side of dash. Do you know a part # for the flasher and If the flasher is missing wud that make the lighter not work. I need the lighter for my GPS.

    Thanks for any info,
    Mojo
