I searched, but can't find an answer.

What is the advantage of 5 lug over 4 lug?

My 1970 Maverick, 200, 3 on the tree, has a 4 lug rear and I am planning a V8 swap.

    Thanks for your input.

your car has a 7.5 rear and will not hold up to the power of a stock 2 barrel 302 . you need an 8 inch rear 4 or 5 lug will both work

Only real advantage is wheel choices.

5 lug is easier to find wheels for.

The rear is smooth, no bolts. It has 10 bolts on the front. Do you think it's a 7.5 or an 8? Everything I could find said the 7.5 has bolts on the rear.

You can use a pumpkin from a 4 lug 8" in a 5 lug 8". They are the same. Nothing from your 7.5 will fit.
