I invested in a new 48" Moser M9 9" rear end housing. Here's a couple of pics... Now, I need some advice. I need to find a way to set it up to find out what length of axles I need for it. From the looks of it I have two options. I can take an old 9" rear end 3rd member off and bolt it to new M9 (just for measurements) then line up the transmission and the pinion together and see how much I need to get taken off one side or each side of the new rear end. Or... would I be correct in assuming that if I can find out how much offcenter the pinion is from the center of the 3rd member I can just get that taken off of the drivers side (looks like it'd be the drivers side) of the housing? Anyone have any ideas? I'm running into problems because both sides of the housing are the same size. 24" from the center of the 3rd member. I'll end up sticking out around 2" on one side of the car if it's not cut. =( Any ideas? Thanks!

If it's a Moser rear end, just call them and ask them. They're the experts.:)
