Hi I am new to this fourm and comet ownership I just nabbed myself a 1963 comet 4-door special from the junkyard, it was headed for the crusher very soon. It's petty much all there missing some some parts like the rear shackles and the pitmam arm are keeping me from moving it right now... The junkyard owner has two other 60-62 the rear shackles will interchange there, hopefuly orther parts will too. It's got a worn out or bad 170 I belive and auto.

Here is a photo of it.

:thumbs2: Cool seems there are few models M's here ;-)

Some humor :) Signs you have an IBM model M Keyboard

You drive everyone around you nuts.
It weighs more then your computer.
You could easily defend yourself with it an mess someone up.
It's been hooked to 5 diff. computers in the last 20 years.

Easily. And more than 5 for some of them... I used to keep a Model M "Spacesaver" keyboard, (no numpad) in my laptop bag. Here are some more "you might be a Model M user if's"

Your computer's brand new state-of-the-art and your keyboard came from Goodwill, Salvation Army or a garage sale.

You've ever "restored" your keyboard using a dishwasher.

    You have "parts keyboards."

You've ever rearranged your keys and tried the Dvorak layout.

You've ever spilled [coffee, coke, beer, hydrochloric acid] in your keyboard and kept on typing.

You've ever got into a religious debate about your keyboard on a forum, especially if you rightfully called Jamie Miles the heretic he is.

Model M my a$$. I'm rockin' this baby:

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showpost.php?p=564649&postcount=50

26 years, every operating system from just MSDOS to Windows 3.1 on up to XP, tens of thousands of posts on this and other forums, countless hours playing games like Wolfenstien and Doom 95, countless nights in chat rooms and talking on AOL Instant Messenger, and it's still going strong!

All the Model M "if's" pretty much apply to this one as well. :rofl2: Not only has it been connected to more then 5 computers, it's been connected to multiple motherboards within the same computer. :D

Oh, and Drew, I think I found a way to convert it to USB and use vacuum tubes to do it!! :biglaugh:

Y'all heard 'im. BURN THE WITCH!

But how much UNIX? Any BBS action? Your keyboard's a n00b.

Somehow I don't see that scantily clad hussy taking liquid spills too well...

You do that, and I will formally concede that your keyboard is bitchin' and is a close second to the Model M.

It's taken a few Coca Cola spills with no problem... but in all honesty, I can't say for sure how it would do with hydrochloric acid. :rofl2:

LOL so true, I got this M keyboard from Goodwill a few months ago for $3.23! yet my computer is a Core2 Q8200 with 4g of ram and a 9800gt running the newest Kubuntu 9.04 with Kde 4.2 and Compiz/Beryl :rofl2:

Here is pic of my setup. It's a IBM 8141 Desktop 3.2GHz HT 2GB RAM 80GB HDD and 256MB graphics card running Windows 7 and 22" LCD. BTW Windows 7 is a awesome OS get the beta/RC1 if you wanna mess with it it's free and can be downloaded right from Microsoft (until sometime next month)

My Model M is not hooked up right at this sec all this talk about model M's made look at how dirty my truly was ;-) so it's unhooked today for a cleaning. I will post pics of it a bit later.

In the very bottom left hand side of the photo you can see my IBM PS/2 Model 30 it's specs are Intel 8086 6Mhz 640KB RAM 30MB HDD and 720KB Floppy with MCGA Graphics.
