wow, ive never seen anything like that. ive seen them rust away from the frame rail but never tear like that
that is why the later year cars had an additional brace welded in for the v/8 70 never came with a v/8 and when the factory started putting them in they were doing that often so the added the brace on the inside of the tower
the 70 was a falcon floor with maverick skin after 71 they change some of the shock tower but were still having problems
Did you have the export braces in place(tower braces)??? Thats a pretty gnarly failure.Glad you didnt loose the car and get hurt.
Never seen that happen, nor heard of it happening. The only difference in the '70 was the smaller trans tunnel and no supports for bucket seats (and of course drop in gas tank). The rest of the floor pan and shock towers were the same. The extra support you see on some 73's does not reinforce the area shown here at all.
WOW If that's from rust I'm lucky my car was extremely greasy when I cleaned up down below, all that old oil and dirt acted as a rust inhibitor
