c4 transmission test

    1- I just removed my transmission and I want to know

    what types of test do i need in orden to see what works ?


    2-what can i use to clean and paint my transsmition ?

    can i do this test by my self or do i need to take it to the shop and how much do you think is going to cost?​

    There is a video of the tests using an air compressor. Search this forum. You can test it yourself.

    Use a wire brush and oven cleaner on the case. You can paint it with high-temp grill paint.

    Out of the car the only tests you can make are the air checks (fair reliability).
    The other check is a complete disassembly and inspection.... followed by complete rebuild.
    In the car you can test pressures which give a good idea of the condition of the transmission.
    In order to clean the case you need to have all the insides out. or you are going to get dirt inside the transmission.

    Most oven cleaner contains lye - it will not only turn aluminum black it will disolve it. Not a good idea.
    Hot soapy water after a good scrub with solvent. Follow that with a good wipe-down with laquer thinner, dry and paint.
