I want to put in a very nice powerful v8 into my mav i have a 75 2 door maverick. I want to put in something big and powerful but that i could do without any space modifications. I noticed on alot of mavs when putting in a v8 braces are used do i need to do that as well?

Go with a 302 for sure...no mods required. Need for speed??? Stroke that baby!!! You can stroke it to 331 or 347, very popular choices. Mine is a 347 with a 4 speed. I have ran a 6.97 1/8th mile on 2 different occasions...low 7's the rest of the time.

the old man speaks the truth..... "there's no replacement for displacement" :yup:

they look like a normal 302 to the naked eye but lay down the law when the time comes...:drive:

302 stroked to 347. Only way to go without mods. You can get a 351w in with no mods and stroke it to 408 but then you have to find decent headers.:)

No on the 351/408 and f-no on the 350.

I've learned several new curse words with this 408.

302's are very easy to find but seeing that you are not that savvy on automotive stuff you might not realize the 5.0 ford, like in the mustangs or the grand marquis and stuff are all 302 motors.
As for the 350 you can put it in and make it work you just have to redo your firewall to clear the distributor, redo your transmission hump, put a mustang II suspension under the front of it, cut the shock towers out of the engine bay...do I need to go on...so the extra 5 min worth searching for 302 or 5.0 stuff is going to save you thousands of dollars and many man hours in fabricating cutting and welding down the road.

the 5.0 liter is basically a 302 with efi and in that year model should have a factory roller cam. basically the same as a 302 conversion. with efi on it.
