well i had a blowout a few days ago. finally found some nice used tires (not paying $800 for a new set to do the same damn thing) and i put them on today at a friends garage. was out driving it around and the next thing you know, i get that nice sweet antifreeze smell coming from my vents and it starts fogging up my windshield.... so what do ya know, i need a heater core. ive had more trouble out of my car in 7 days than i have in 7 months
man thats bad luck. at least its not that bad... unless you has factory air then i know your pain. any ways good luck.
ya know, ive seen it a thousand times but neevr thought about doing it myself. i may just do that. i ordered a new one at Advance tonight but may wait till i feel like putting it in hell, it's supposed to be 70+* degrees this weekend so i dont think ill be needing heat anyways
LOL, dont sweat it. just bypass like stated above. i didnt have my heater hooked up for years because i lived in the bay area where it only got down to the 30s once or twice a year... just had a towel for when the windows fogged...
I feel your pain;lost half of a front end 72 grabber to a GOOD used tire.DRive her anyway. YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAV DOWN!!!
If its no AC its not a bad job at all. Did mine in the car over my lunch hour. You will need to bend a tool to pop off the box clips on the upper right side. Short of that its a quicky. I took the heater hoses off under the hood and pulled them out with the core. Installed new hoses and clamps and back in it went. Nice to have heat and defrost up here in the evening and morning.
