Yep, it's a common thing with these cars. Mines been called all sorts of stuff, Nova, Mustang, AMX...
You are not aloneWe have all heard the dredded hey thats a nice.... Nova...Camaro...vega...mustang...ETC...
Only every time I have ever put it in a show...which is a lot. It's actually gotten to be pretty funny.
I always hear "Pinto". Or they even see it's a Maverick and they still talk about the Pinto their friend or sister or whoever had. I'm sure it's the headlights. I'm gonna take the upper bend out of the headlight trim and carry the chrome across the hood right at the break, straight across, and roll the hood lip under just so I don't have to ever hear "Pinto" again. Like this: Right after I win the lottery, and have lots of time.
One gorgeous Sunday mornin, about 8:30. I was in a do it yourself car wash and this guy drives up behind the car and Yells " Nice 67 Charger bud". I walked to the back of the car and said " thanks for the compliment but it's a Ford Maverick-72". He just looked at me , then the car and drove off. I just about died laughing.Like every1 else, called nova, camaro, and most lately a PINTO. eeeeeeeeeeeee.TTFN Ron
My father in law seemed surprised that I owned a Comet because "he had one and it didn't look like that". He thought it was a Maverick.
Well i never drive mine...But i told one guy i had a maverick and he said he bought one brand new in 1964
me to!!! i always get the "i use to have one of those" but i would mistake it for a nova... i didnt know what mavericks were until 8 months ago
