Im lookin to buy a new i6 for my 75 mav i cant seem to find much of a selection online. Any websites and help would be extremely helpful thanks guys. And is it extremely complicated to install one myself? I want to get a new engine and tranny is that hard to install myself? lol i just dont want to spend alot of money on the labor cause thats crazy expensive.
you should get yours rebuilt. those motors went out of production in the end of the 70s or early 80s. so you wont find a "new" one. they are not popular enough for "crate motors" to be avaible. the motor and trans are not hard to pull on your own. rent a engine hoist from an equipment rentals place and pull them out (disconet everything first). take the motor to a engine machine shop and the trans. to a reputible transmission shop,
well the main reason i wanted a new i6 was because i wanted the car to be more gas efficient. Would rebuilding it do that?
Putting in a new engine with higher than stock compression (9.5:1) would go a long way in fuel economy but at what cost? you can buy a lot of gas for $1500!
