Dittos that as well. Out of the 30 or so Mavericks I have ever had....I have only had (1) 1975. Must have been a bad sales year for Ford. People will say the same thing 30 years from now about the 2009 models.

    :thumbs2:

    Yes, yes we have. :biglaugh:

Here are the '74 - '77 numbers. Remember that the Granada/Monarch was introduced in '75 and cut into the Maverick/Comet sales. You can see the big drop from '74 to '75. It was also the first year that 4 doors outsold 2 doors.

    1974 Production:
    Maverick - 2-dr 139,818
    Maverick 4-dr 137,728
    Maverick Grabber 23,502
    Comet 2-dr 64,751
    Comet 4-dr 60,944

    1975 Production:
    Maverick - 2-dr 63,404
    Maverick 4-dr 90,695
    Maverick Grabber 8,473
    Comet 2-dr 22,768
    Comet 4-dr 31,080

    1976 Production:
    Maverick - 2-dr 60,611
    Maverick 4-dr 79,076
    Comet 2-dr 15,068
    Comet 4-dr 21,006

    1977 Production:
    Maverick - 2-dr 40,086
    Maverick 4-dr 58,420
    Comet 2-dr 9,109
    Comet 4-dr 12,436

I guess that still doesn't answer why there are fewer 75s. You'd think there would be fewer 77s, based off production numbers.

75 was rough? man i was playing with my hot wheels maverick in a sandbox some where! those were good times what are you talking about rough time??! lol!

thanks... but isn't that sad that now some car companies can't even sell as many cars (and i mean all thier model cars) in one year as only one model the mavericks sold in one year. but this probably accounts for almost any other car built in the 70s and 80's as well. guess bad times!

Dang, I am with the majority this time with my new 72 with 35% of owners having a 72. I like having something everybody else doesn't but you sure don't see many of any 72 Mavericks running around my neck of the woods.
Now with my 71 F100 I am in the minority. People stop me at the gas station all of the time wanting to know what year and make it is. It has been called anything from a 79 F150 to a Dodge. lol

I started off looking for a 71 maverick with 302. Didn't have much luck though. Alot of what I found either had alot of rust or the people were just asking to much for them. Then I found this 72 comet gt. Needs alot of work but the body and motor are very good. So that's what I have now. Still want a 71 though, it is my favorite yr maverick. Maybe some day.

I think ford produced 279,300 for 1975 and 89,000 comets. these seem to be the #'s all the way back to about 71-72. In 1976 ford reduced the number of mavericks made that year by 50%.
