Well, after waiting a week and a half to have time to go pick up my new mav I finally grabbed a buddy and went to go haul her out. She wasn't parked in a very accessible location, behind and to the side of a house, with a 5th wheel blocking the way. It took 3 of us to drive/rock the car out to an accessible place where I could pull it out with my pathfinder and about 30' of tow strap. After getting the pathfinder stuck and unstuck we finally got the mav out on hardtop, and I drove it home from there. A very loud ride as the exhaust stops at the hooker headers right now. I took about 90 "before" pics. I've already razorbladed all of the hideous racing stickers off the glass, and blasted away some of the primer on the Cragers to find that the chrome is still in great shape. Its a 302 w/ Carter 4bbl, Summit intake, hooker headers, RV cam, electronic ignition, fuel cell, battery moved to trunk, interior gutted, two brand new racing buckets, and some hideous things done to the poor interior (especially the dash). Also note the comet front bumper. Its going to be my summer fun car, not a full blown race car, but enough power to have fun with. "De-reconstruction" starts Saturday.
4spd Toploader. Currently a 3spd toploader as it has some issues with 2nd gear. As soon as I finish the engine bay the tranny is getting dropped and rebuilt with a David Kee kit. Thats something we like to refer to as "whore snow". Not the nice fluffy stuff you can play in, but the half frozen garbage that makes it impossible to accomplish anything.
Another member went and looked at the car and turned it down because of the condition of the interior but I think it is a good start and bought at a decent price as well. I thought about it but heck I think about any Maverick that is within 1,000 miles. LOL Have fun with your project and keep us updated.
Looks like a great start~! Interesting ignition location and a comet bumper! Cool car. *You have no idea how much horsepower you lost by removing then stickers
What interior? That pictures from the house I picked it up at. I'm stuck in military dorms. No garage, but I've got the auto hobby shop two blocks away.
