I:huh: How is it when you try to help someone with parts you end up the bad guy! I ran into a guy in Ohio at the Columbus Swap meet. He was looking for Maverick Seats. I told him I have a set in a comet that I would sell but that there were several others who could sell them to him that might be closer. I told him about the forum and asked him to check it out and see if anyone here that was closer to him had a set. I explained that I am not a parts dealer but help out people I meet when I can. I really don't care if I sell the seats or not but he takes it the wrong way. Instead of thanking me for a lead on seats possibly closer to him he sends me a nasty e-mail. :naughty: I just don't understand how you end up the bad guy when all your trying to do is help.:hmmm: Any of you ever get this kind of grief?
    Thanks for letting me vent!

Sorry to hear that Jerry. Hard to read some people. I made an offer on a shifter to a guy at the last swap meet. It was really beat up and I only needed the T handle. He started screaming to everyone that it was worth 2X what he was asking and made a big scene about it. And I was trying to gyp him. All he had to say was no. But he came on like an a$$.

I tried to take the high road. I replied to his nasty email and gave him some names of parts vendors on this site. I just can't understand some people.

Nothing new. Not in direct relation, but some years ago I offered to take a look at a pinball machine for a guy in Chicago (I am in Texas), and photograph it - for free. I sent him pics, he liked it, and ended up buying it.

The caveat? When I was with the seller, the seller made all kinds of verbal promises on what would be done before it was shipped. Of course, NOTHING was done, the guy overpaid for the game and was screwed.

I brought up the situation on a public newsgroup, and told the story. Several people actually slammed ME, and defended the seller - even after I went out of my way to help a stranger, posted pics, etc. Unbelieveable - you never forget these things.

There's a world of strange folks out there, looking for a buck.....and they don't care what happens to you or how they behave....:(

Sold the 8 inch out of my Mav years back. Posi with 4:11. Had maybe 200 miles on it since built. Got 600 bucks complete. That night the guy calls me up saying I ripped him and his dad says its not a posi. I didnt know how to react. After explaining to him how the posi works and what he is actually looking at he still didnt beleive me. I gave up and told him to bring it right back and I'll sell it to someone else tomorrow. He didnt like that idea and I never heard from him again. What a moron.
Almsot forgot, they were Chevy guys and he was putting it in a Vega. Guess his dad has never seen a Ford posi.

I know the feeling. I bought a car from a good friend. Drove down to NC to get it. Ended up selling it a few months later to a member on this board. I never did anything with the car but the previous owner used it as a daily driver. When the questions came from the buyer about reliability and stuff, I ask him to contact the previous owner to find out the exact condition of the car. All I ever did was start it up to move around the yard. Even though both other parties knew each other, the buyer never contacted the original owner. Then both the original owner and I went out of our way to have some parts shipped in and installed by me to make it street legal. I sold the car for what I originally paid for it. The buyer came down, spent the night at my house, then started to drive the car home the next day. It over heated a few miles from my house. We got it back here, I put a newer radiator in it, and he went back home with no further problems. Then he proceeded to tell anyone that would listen, how I screwed him. You just cant please some people.

I have had stuff like that happen to me also. Some people are just idiots, and I have no respect for people who turn into bad asses thru a keyboard. You just have to keep on trying to do the best you can and always help anyone in anyway you can.

I have wrote a reply to this post 3 times now [IMG] I keep deleting cause everytime I think about "deals gone bad" it always came back to these "certain" people I used to work with on selling parts to.....I don't want this topic to go off on that so I will say:

I sure with any hobby, there are times when "selling" parts or trying to sell parts can be a "hassle". [IMG]

I agree with what others have said....unless you just need the money, let the stuff sit.....thats what I do with my parts. When you get back in the mood to help others....you will still have the parts. Or better yet....you might use them yourself!!

I think you have to just look at it, as some people are just a$$holes, and there's nothing you can do about it, so don't loose any sleep over it. Sure things happen, but if you do what you can to the best of your ability, what else can you do?
I once fixed a furnace for a guy, at 11:30 at night, the bearings were so worn, the shaft ate half way through them (you can't tell me it didn't make any noise for less than a week) anyways, he insisted I come out and fix it, then he complained that I took to long to get to his house, and that I got a spot of oil the size of a quarter on his basement floor (and his basement was packed with boxes, from one end to the other).....

Thanks for the feed back guys. Craig I think your right. I will just hold on to them until I need them or someone here who treats me and others with respect needs them (by the way that would be everyone here)! I knew when I wrote this you guys would make me feel better and it has.
    Thanks

LOL!!! YES!!! :bananaman sorry dude, but a very tiny part of me is happy to see someone else have their good intentions stomped on by the ignorance of the unwashed masses. At least its not just me, heh heh- yea man, you're not the only one. It happens all the time to me- I build mavericks, just mavericks- I try and point people in the right direction who come asking me for resto parts all the time (i do race only parts generally, unless i'm stripping a car) and they get angry instead of appreciative of having a good lead... don't sweat it man, save your efforts for folks who appreciate it.
