got a 302 under my hood and need a powerfull punch without changing out the axle, looking into a stealth intake manifold, any suggestions?
if its all stock and you havent done it yet,put dual exhaust on it.Or do a good brake job on it if you havent done that yet.Or throw a good tune up at it... decisions...decisions...
ya 200 dont go far now a days if your happy with the brake performance and its an otherwise mechanically cound car id savve up for headers and exhaust first then an intake and carb then a cam JMO good luck
A new intake ain't gonna do nothing if you can't get the exhaust out of the head. The biggest bang for the bucks is a steeper gear
Need more info but if that is a stock 302 that stealth ntake would be over kill unless you are planning on more upgrades in the future......
You're on a budget, forget buying a new intake. Shop for a nice used one. These things do not wear out. Some (very few actually) will get corrosion in the coolant passages, a very few might get milled to match milled heads. But the vast majority of used intakes are fine. A used Stealth can be had for about $100 & up. Maybe less if you're patient. Ditto for a used carb. I buy used Holleys for less than $150 and throw a kit in em. The only ones I buy are obviously little used, a look at the finish is the tell-tale. The Stealth, Performer RPM, the older F4B, Torker (the one with the twisted carb pad) and the various versions of the Shelby Cobra high rise are all great intakes for what you're doing.
agreed! i bought a torker 289 (the twisted carb) for 75 and a used carter 625 cfm for 65 and the rebuild was 40 from summit (just an edlebrock rebuild kit). headers and exhaust would be a very close second, but hard to do for just 200
its stock 302 out of a 83 lincon contenental, disk brakes in front, new dual exaust, and a huge air filter....like 16 inch air filter LOL the stealth intake is $125 and the guy said a 20-30 hp gain on a 302 im shooting for hp and this sounds like the way, do carborators increase hp? if so, which one?
