Anyone ever had there Magnum 500's widened?? I would like to put 1" in the front and 2" in the back but I'm not really sure if its a good idea or not. I've got a line on a set for only $100 that are 14 x 7 and would like to have them split + widened before I blast + paint. Any thought or help is appreciated!!

Not Magnums, but I had my Cragars widened 2" by these guys:

At that time, 3 years ago, it cost $100 a wheel plus shipping. I sent them UPS from PA, cost less than $20 each way to ship two wheels.

Check with Stockton wheel. I'm sure that they can do it also.

When I checked with Stockton they didn't widen the wheels by adding a band, they remove the center and then weld it into a wider rim. They're in Cali so shipping from back east is 3 times what shipping to the midwest was.

I would check around locally.......we have a small shop here that does it.
Check with a local speed shop, they could likely point you in the right direction.

Barry, that looks like a quality outfit. I really like the way they show how they widen the wheels. I have a set of factory aluminum wheels I would like to have that done.

Thanks for all the replies guys! These are painted Magnums and I already have a set of 3" bands to go on them. I like the look of a little wider rim but I don't think I've seen any pics from anyone on the board with them. Do you think maybe a welding shop might do widening?? There is one those in my area but no speed shops anywhere close.

I would think the main concern (next to a good weld) is balance
if it is way out and you cannot balance them.....or worse have 2 pounds of weights on your wheels :D

How would you part the wheel? Weldcraft has a wheel lathe to split the rims. I doubt if a weld shop would have something like that.
