Well, it's definitely a '72 according to the VIN, and those are definitely '73+ door panels. It does say the car has been repainted, I'd venture to say someone swapped the doors. Looks like the drivers side seat has had some of the vinyl replaced also, and the horn pad on the steering wheel isn't original either (and possibly the gauge cluster). I know a little variation in the colors is normal from the factory, but that interior just has too much variation in color between the parts. All in all, it looks to be an extremely nice car though.
yeah I think you are on the mark. I wasn't sure if you could swap the door panels and the rods and stuff to make the 73 and up panels work on the 70 - 72 doors or if you would have to swap the entire door. It just kinda stuck out like a sore thumb to me because he mentioned a couple times that the car was very original and I no those are not the original door panels???? Still looks like a helluva nice car
If I remember correctly, I believe 72 LDOs came from the factory with the later style (73 and up) armrests before the rest of the Mavs switched over in 73.
The car definitely has the LDO package - the exterior trim and the inside door handles are all part of that.
the pattern on the door panels looks alot diffrent then whats in any of my cars though the arm rest its self is definatly the 73+ style
yup, '72 LDO cars featured several different options like the LDO interior, sport lamps w/ switch and 73+doors and door panels
Yeah, the first time I saw a 72 LDO car, the interior really confused me... With the package tray, late door panels/arm rests, and the Sport Lamp switch... All part of the 72 LDO. Oh, and they are the first car with the late model buckets...
also noticed that the horn pad on the steering wheel is not for that car. looks like it's for an early car with the horn ring...
Yeah, something is up with that, the steering wheel looks to be a different color than the pad. But I'd still buy the car if I was looking for a Comet.
This car interior wise is almost a clone of my Maverick(I got the floor shift automatic with the LDO package). Another thing that you can't see in the picture is the Fasten seatbelt light it is postioned right next to the Sport Lamp switch, it was put there because of the fake wood trim insert in the dash, from what I understand this is the only year that was done, all in all it is a very beautiful car.
