Anybody here used a Granada Console in combo with a T5 trans? How about another factory console with a T5? Basically I am converting my car to a T5 and would like to install a console, yes I know I could make my own, but I would like to use something originally from a Ford or Ford product instead. Building my own is a last resort. Prefer also to supply floor lighting to the rear seat floor area as well. I am flexible and I am also checking on eBay from time to time as well as Craigslist.

Any info is and will be greatly appreciated along with pics if possible.

does the shifter come up in a different place with a t5, do you have to alter the hole in the tranny hump? I like the look of late sixties early seventies mustang consoles.

On another note I would love to install a console rom a 69 or 70 galaxie xl. I love the floor shifter on the automatic cars.

I would say no since the T5 shifter is dead center on the top and the 3 & 4 speeds are left of center due to the external linkage setup. I looked at a console in a 69 Ford XL and it was pretty nice, but a bit wide, it might fit but I think it would be tight. I would have to take some measurements to be sure enough to try and talk the guy into parting the car.

Shifter hole for the 3 & 4 speeds or for the T5 is almost the same as the factory floor shifted automatics? This trans upgrade is what is holding me up with carpet and bucket seat up grades because it ultimately determines where I have to cut the floor pan and the carpet. Just would be nice to have a console ready to go at the same time. I am really regretting not getting aggressive on the blue Versailles console that MLEEGA on here had on eBay awhile back. But I did not have the T5 at the time and was holding cash back for that. Did not know I was going to score a low mileage 93 5.0 T5 with bellhousing and shifter for a scant $125.

I just swapped a C4 and 302 into my 72 GT. It was a 200 3-speed toploader. I had to slightly alter the hole in the floor, making it a little bigger to accept the auto floorshift. The carpet hole doesn't quite hide under the shifter bezel because the standards have the black plastic piece that covers a larger area.

I am playing around with a Granada console right now myself. PM me if you need some measurements, etc. I have the console split apart in the three separate layers to better see what needs to be modded. I am running an automatic with a floor shifter and it may not be in exactly the stock location.

I am restoring some LDO seat tracks (Thanks Mean! (y)) and need to get my seats mounted, and then I can better see what needs to happen with the console, or if it will even fit with highbacks being mounted lower than stock. It looks tight right now ...

    Related questions ...

Anyone that has used a Granada console ... did you use the factory floor bracket that came with it? It seems to make the console sit up off the tunnel in my 72 Comet.

My console is tan leather and I want it to be black ... can I change it using vinyl dye? ... shoe polish? ... is there something better?
