I'd make sure those fit before buying them, maybe see if they will give you the Headman part number, www.headman.com lists 2 sets of headers for Mavericks #'s 88300 & 88400.Unless those are new, I've never seen them before.

I have a 1976 Maverick Stallion, and 85 More Mavericks and Comets in Inventory.
Has any one tried using the Factory headers from a 92 or 93 T-bird or Cougar with a 5.0 HO,,,? they are nice and close to the engine and might need a mod/ towards the rear of the engine to meet the exhaust pipe,, Just a thought,,

    alright thanks for the info
I have another question for you guys, What is the distance between your heads(where the headers bolt in) and the shock tower? I came up with 3 1/4? dose that seem right?

Interesting idea, Joe. I'm fairly certain I can score a pair of these for cheap. Do you think they exit close to where the stock manifolds do?

they might, they are tight but still headers are going to flow better than any manifold

I used Hooker 6901's. They fit with no mods They cost $161 at Autozone. They come with bolts and gaslets.

you will need a P/S drop bracket to make room.

With that P/S drop bracket, make sure that sucker is welded and not bolted like I did mine, otherwise it WILL bend and eventually the arm will slide right out and you may even tear your P/S lines and they'll spray all over your new headers and melt two spark plug wires like I did ._.

Oh and if you have a column shifter, you'll have to either go with a floor shifter or rebend that linkage.

I've got the Hooker 6901's in my car also. I like the idea that I don't have to fight with the bolts and nuts halfway up the engine compartment. Anyone have any problems with the shorty headers?:)

Thats where I'm at! the only thing power on my car is the brakes. with that being said I guss the only thing I would need to do is get a floor shifter?

Alex, we used the headman 88300's on Hotties car. there was less than a 1/2 inch clearance to the shock towers. They will go on with the motor in the frame but it is tight and the drivers side has to go up from the bottom. and yes you can kiss the colum shift goodbye. we bent, cut and finally gave up on it and went to a B&M. even with the drop down bracket never got the power steering to hook back up.
