After a couple of troublesome years, I'm back to working on my '77 and have my excitement back or as John would say, maverick mojo. Thanks to Frank, I've been able to acquire an AOD (Did y'all know that Frank loves his AOD?) and an Explorer 8.8 rear with limited slip, 3.73 gears, and disc brakes. My buddy found me a deal where I bought both for $200. Mark Lee (mleega1) and I made a top tier trade where I acquired an Austalian head, intake manifold, performance cam, lifters, and adjustable rocker arms for the 250 ci six cylinder engine in the '77 Maverick. I got some great help and advice on the Fordsix forum for getting the most out of this setup. My buddies Jeff and Jamie went with me to swap the parts with Mark. Here's a link to the pictures of the new go-fast parts. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AbOGjlo4bNGLDXg As you can see, this head and manifold will breathe a lot better better than the stock American setup. The Aussie head for the 250 ci engine is basically a Cleveland design. Mark had it worked over by Frank Harris of Frank's Head Service with the larger American 250 valves installed, cut for 289 valve springs and springs for up to .540 lift installed, and had it professionally ported and polish by Jerry Killian of Killian's Porting Service in Warner Robins, GA. To maximize that flow, I plan to use an Autolite 4100 carb with 1.08 primaries I got from Scott (krelboyne) that will be modified for use on the six-banger. Thanks, Scott. Got it today. I've used my Desktop Dyno enough to know that it posts high numbers. From my experience of inputting engine specs where I had actual and real numbers, I know how much to adjust the Desktop Dyno final numbers to be within 5% of the probable, actual numbers. With that said, the 250 ci engine in my '77 should hopefully be around 230 HP @ 5,000 RPM at the flywheel and around 284 ft. lbs. of torque at 3,000 RPM at the flywheel. Actually the torque numbers go from 275 @ 2,500 RPM to 284 @ 3,500 to 260 @ 5,000 RPM. That's a pretty flat torque curve. I'll be glad to post the specs on the engine a little later. I think I will be close to a one-of-a-kind Maverick when I'm through. My goal is to have it completely together, including installing new A/C and all the parts I've mentioned by Christmas. I'll keep you posted.
As Darby O'Gill said to Michael in the movie, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, "Try closing one eye."
Dave, I will transcribe,, Whacko has a 8.8" rear, with 3:73 gear and disc brakes. He has a head from down under, gud day! A head was then polished, and a carb of 4100 configuration is incorporated. He is hoping for 234 hp and 284 ft. lbs. of torque @ 3000 RPM. He states that could be flat. He ends with Merry Christmas! Dan

Is that what that is? I was wondering, because I've seen that guy's name mentioned in other threads I've been a part of.
