but im not getting any fuel pressure from the mechanical fuel pump iam doing it kinda half ass though where i have a red 1 gallon lawn mower jug of 93 sitting on the ground and a rubber line comming off the fuel pump down into the jug the pressure side of the fuel pump is staying dry though. but when i pull the hose out of the jug some gas does run out of it but it may have just syphoned its self up? do i just have the jug too low for the pump to suck it up? its a brand new OE fuel pump which doesnt use a return line or anything cry: im letting the battery recharge right now at 10 amps
sounds like it should run, but if it's not pumping any fuel then the pump has to be bad or the fuel pump 'lode' on the front of the timing set isnt doing it's job...
is there any chance that when i put the fuel pump on the shaft went under the "lobe" rathen then ontop? or vise versa? (Idk how its supposed to be)
Fill the bowls like Elliot suggested also try raising the temporary tank to the same level as the pump to help prime it.
ok well the pump managed to prime, i let it crank getting a few pops out the top of the carb(guess the timings way off) but then it stopped and the crank is so tight i cant get the front pulley to budge at all, wtf? did i manage to sieze it up by just cranking the starter?!
Put a 15/16" socket on the crank and try to turn it, if it's built any compression, it'll be hard to turn by hand.
i was turning it with a socket and breaker bar, not a budge... guess i'll start with the plugs and start pumming things off untill its freed
well plugs are out, still solid as a rock idk wtf would have happened in the amount of time it took me to crank that motor a few times with the starter. the valve covers are off and everything looks good and i pulled the fuel pump just incase that was binding up and the plugs are out hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............. i guess i'll just have to tear into 'er tomorrow...
What the crank shaft bolt? It won't come out if it's torqued, You need an impact to get it off. I've been spinning mine back and forth for days, checking TDC.
