Motor Trend or one of the other big magazines (I looked at the article on line, but can't remember where) actually featured the Disco Ball Pinto from that show. Wow, that thing was a trip!

....not as long as you see more of them at a show than Mavericks! I am not being partial here, but you gotta give kudos to the Pinto guys for making such an effort. With such a HUGE interest in Mavericks on the internet alone, you'd think that the shows would have them represented in droves.

I wish the Maverick/Comet people would put an effort into meets! But, alas, most will not drive very far! I attended the Knotts show two years in a row..drove over 1300miles each way! The first year I drove down with Coop(from Seattle). The second year I got hold of about 30 people from the board to either meet up on the way down or join me in the drive to Knotts! I got a response by bout 10 people...of whom only one actually met up with me for a visit(IBR from Fresno)..twice! Rocky turned out to be an awesome guy...it was privilege to meet him! But I drove threes days both ways alone. But even those in Northern California had no interest at all in the get together..or even meeting up...I just don't understand why? I had a better turn out up my way in Parksville(10 cars..held at a car dealership),a small town on Vancouver Island, than one of the largest Ford shows in one of the largest cities in the US..and held at one of the most widely covered and promoted theme parks in the West!:hmmm:

    Hello Maverick group,
I too was at knottsberry Farm show on the 20th of april.
I drove a 1972 Red Pinto wagon all original 58,000 miles 4600 miles round trip to the Knotts. Now my wagon has 63,000 miles.
I had a BLAST on the trip and getting to see al my California Pinto friends again at the show.
Maybe some of you saw the one with the surfboards on the roof rack?
This marks my 6th PCCA meet I have attended in a row.
Carlisle Pensylvania 06 -07 and Tulsa OKlahoma 07
    Pidgeon forge 05
    My 3rd knottsberry meet 06-07-08.

The Maverick is so cool! I too wanted to meet members and see more of them.

Yes the Disco Pinto of Mike Parente was the talk of the show!!!
I have many photos if anyone wishes me to email them to them?
    pintony_2000@yahoo.com
My photos are too big to post here...
Hope all that attended had a good time despite the poor attendance.

i hear yah dude! and i give you props... cuz i wouldn't drive that far...lol! i think the first year it was just me you your friend and bob that meet up for a qiuck meet. but yes i am not to sure what the dealo is. though i do see many people with mavericks they never bring them to the show... i don't get it? who cares if it in the works... it not a judged show. i think what the problem is so cal has way too many shows people don't care about them. some just don't like car shows. who knows.

you must have did a search for pinto disco ball or something to find this post... lol!

one year i saw this totally clean brown pinto at some show down in brea was it... i can't rememeber he had a friend with a red pangra... (sp?) i'm sure you know him. but yeah totally clean... wow! but still a pinto... lol! j/k then again it's just a maverick...lol!

    thanks for stopping by ;)

    Hey Maverick Man,
Have been a member here for a while...
I do not own a Maverick though.
I do make it a POINT to go check the Maverick stuff out though when I'm at the Knotts...
The Knotts show is WAY TOO SHORT so I did not have the time I wanted to spend with them as too the years in the past just too many COOL rides to check out!!!
I did stuff goodie bags on Saturday. It takes al;ot of my time as I am only in California for 3 days and headed back to Illinois.
Scored a Pair of the license frames for my wagon though...:thumbs2:
Yes the Brown Pinto is owned by Bob in Orange county and the Pangra is Co-Owned by Bob and Barth.
I stayed at Barths house this year. I consider them some of my closest friends. Even though they live over 2000 miles from me.
I fly out to visit at the Pinto X-mas meet in December.
The time and money spent I consider is about the Friends I make and get to see each year well worth it!!!

Sorry, I wish i could be more social and also dust off my Maverick more, but I just can't this time of year. I was in CA 7 days in April, and 3 of those days were working at Long Beach (not staying at home!)

Actually, I posted on the Pinto group about the Maverick turnout, and Pintony picked it up and came over here to post. Pintony is one of the most dedicated, knowledgeable Pinto guys on the planet.
