Ratio, That is cool info and good that you can validate the positions on the seat release. It is also great to hear that your uncle had good results using Mustang coupe upholstery. I was just measuring one in the salvage yard, and had the seat back to get a good measurement from (and it is very close in size) but the seat bottom was gone so I was having to guesstime its size. Now my choices boil down to standard or deluxe ...
The seat back is ever so slightly narrower in every direction, on the Stang. The seat bottom needed some mods that I, personally, wouldn't be comfortable doing. My uncle does some sewing when he works on boat canvas, so he jumped right in. IIRC, the Stang has "wings" on the bottom, at the front. The seat wraps around the rear side panels a bit. I think you can just leave it loose there, but I am not sure. I didn't mean to make it sound too rosy! Just that it can be done with the coupe seat covers... Not even close with the fastback covers.
i do have 73 comet buckets ill take the tracks off of those.it sucks living in maine my car is burryed under 2 ft of smow tell spring so im just doing the small projects like head light bezals, holly 650 dp carb rebuild, ordered a new carpet, dashpad.stuff like that.i wish i had inside storage.the storage units around hear dont have power!
this is exsactly what i just got for my comet there the same ginger color but they are near mint and they have the seat tracks.
Kurt, That is probably a 1970 Mach 1 seat (seat release is on the side). 71-73 Mach seats had way different uphostery. This is the upholstery style that is my favorite.
If they are anything like tracks from a 71-73, they won't even be close. The good news is that those seats should bolt right up to Mav seat tracks. It seems that most all Ford bucket seats all the way up to current day have the same bolt pattern underneath. I know that Fox Mustang seats bolt up.
I agree Jeff, that's a 70 Mach 1 seat. The 69 Mach 1's had the seat release half way up the seat and 70's at the bottom. - Matt
