by the way, not a DROP of wine... The wife and I had a crawfish boil in the back yard, lots of mud-bugs, taters, mushrooms, corn, sausage, etc. It was 80 and sunny, and was just begging for a boil. There were some drinks, beer and bourbon and coke, but mostly stuffing our faces with mudbugs. When I got back on here, I was just wondering why we were spending so much time on these cars when there are so many other nice cars out there with parts available on the cheap. In other words, i forgot we were Mavericks!!! for a few minutes...
Anybody in this thread who said there's nothing hard about working on a Maverick, has clearly never serviced the wiper linkage.
Anybody in this thread who says the wiper linkage is hard to service, has clearly never been in the dash of a Fox Body Mustang. While the wiper linkage is a PITA on the Maverick, they aren't really something that commonly has problems.
Granted nearly everything on the Maverick is very easy to work on. There are only three things that are way more difficult than they should have to be, and I've had the honor of doing all of them: Wiper assembly, spark plugs, brake light switch.
If anything is hard to do on a Maverick, it is likely to be 3 times as hard to do on most other cars...especially late model ones. Oh, and I can change plugs on my v8 Mavericks in less than 10 minutes...but it does require the use of a special offset swivel ratchet I purchased from the Snap-On truck some 25 years ago (which they still sell). Makes it a breeze.
rayzorsharp could you post a pic of which ratchet from snapon it is? that would be great to do plugs that fast
It's at my shop. I'll try to do that in the next day or so. Well worth the investment even if that was all you ever used it for.
Just found this picture on eBay. Same as mine but mine doesn't have the black grip. Oh...and this one was already sold. ($50.00)
Spent the entire day looking at swap meets and junk yards for bucket seats that may fit. Anyone trying to put in aftermarket bucket seats knows how difficult it is to get them to fit correctly... And if you buy the brackets from JEGs, Summit, etc. They of course do NOT have Maverick Specific brackets.
something that i wish ford would have done to all the mavs was to put the fuse panel under the steering wheels like the 76 mavs, its a PITA to change a fuse i have to recline the seat all the way down then get in upside down.
yep my buckets sit 1-2" lower than regular seats but i like it that way, with the bench seat the stock steering wheel was at my knees.
