sad to hear but one of my favorite things about the maverick is that no one my age has one. they are truly original to own and a kick in the pants to drive
Kids... Does he want a 70s camaro because of transformers? They gotta look good for their friends I guess. Ah well. They're decent platforms made mostly from leftover Nova parts. Big blocks fits in there reeeeeeeeeeaaaaal nice... They're a hell of a lot cheaper than a mustang too. Unless we're talking 70s "mustangs" as well... Have fun with your new project!!!
Well, after much debate last night we might be looking for another Maverick. We are in the looking mode now. Nah, I suggested 70's Camaro...he was talking 80's and I had to say no to something. I'm not going to rule out any car yet. I just want him to get a project he can get into. He loved the Maverick, but there was always this nagging sensation that it wasn't what he wanted and more what I wanted...lol I will keep you guys posted on what we end up with. And I know someone has said it before...but this is the best Car Forum Ever. Don
Kids, who can figure them sometimes! When my son was 14, I had both a '70 Mach 1 and a red '69 Cougar XR7 conv. He wanted the Mach. Later, as I was putting a set of Magnums on it, the jack went through the frame rails. The whole under side was insafe, so it went away. When he turned 16, he wanted the red XR7 conv. because his friend said it was a cool car. I poured several thousand dollars into it to make it show worthy. Then, I bought another '69 Cougar conv and we took both of them to shows. It was a great bonding experience. He got a lot of attention and even escorted homecoming princesses in the car. But it was not a Mustang. After he got out of high school and went off to UF, we sold his XR7 and he used the money to buy a '69 Mach 1 project. He and I bought several parts cars and he sold the parts on Ebay to finance the restoration. Now, in his senior year of college, it is complete. It has been quite a challenge, but now he has his 390/4sp Indian Fire Red Mach 1. If they are not happy with what they have, they will never be satisfied. Only until they get what they really want, even when it means many more dollars, will they be happy. I must be easier to please. I still have my conv and drive it almost daily. Of course, I have my other toys, too. lol Jim
and i know that, thats why its not b "bodies" as in plural. just another car that popped into my head. and now, back to our regularly scheduled program.
Hey, nothing wrong with the 80s F-bodies either. That was my first hot-rod. www.thirdgen.org is the best place for info on them. Big block fits in there as well. A little snug, and the stock hood has a hard time closing, but that's why we have scoops!! You can make a real quick runner for less than $10k including the purchase price easy. I did mine for under $5k. Those cars are great if you want to go fast on the cheap. I learned how to weld, paint, wire, fiberglas, etc etc on this car. Didn't do to well getting all the dents out though...
Its Been great talking with you,, what ever you choose to get into,, If you find your self looking for some thing ,,, let me know,, I hope your going to still come on and hang out with all of us,,, :Handshake
